UP CM Yogi Adityanath Likely to Inaugurate Film City Project Near Noida Airport in March

Filmmaker Boney Kapoor, in partnership with developer Bhutani Group, has officially taken possession of land for the much-anticipated Film City near Noida International Airport, officials confirmed on February 27.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to lay the foundation stone for the project in March, though the exact date is yet to be finalized.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) handed over the land to Bayview Projects-led consortium on February 27. Spread across 1,000 acres in Sector 21, just 6 km from the airport, the Film City will be developed in phases, with the first phase covering 230 acres at an estimated cost of ₹1,510 crore.

“The project will be fully developed within eight years, with the first phase slated for completion in three years,” said YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh.

The Film City will feature luxury villas for actors, state-of-the-art studios, production houses, a film academy, and entertainment zones, catering to both domestic and international filmmakers.

In January 2024, Bayview Projects LLP and Bhutani Group secured the project bid by offering an 18% revenue share to the Uttar Pradesh government, outbidding competitors like T-Series and consortiums led by Akshay Kumar and KC Bokadia.

Following a concession agreement signed in June, the consortium will begin sharing revenue with the government after an eight-year moratorium.

As per the master plan, the Film City will include 15 three-bedroom villas for actors, equipped with private pools, gyms, and dedicated staff quarters. The first phase will also see the construction of studios, outdoor sets, and a university for training film technicians.
