On Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered an investigation into the conduct of five additional district magistrates (ADMs) and three sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) for negligence in flood-related work, officials reported.
The CM also suspended Kanpur Dehat district's disaster expert, Ashwini Kumar, for laxity in flood relief efforts.
The officials under investigation include additional district magistrates (finance & revenue) Santosh Singh (Banda), Umesh Chandra Nigam (Chitrakoot), Uma Shankar (Siddharthnagar), S Sudhakaran (Sultanpur), and Gajendra Kumar (Muzaffarnagar). The three SDMs are Lalit Kumar Mishra (Siddharthnagar Sadar tehsil), Sanjay Kumar Singh (Hathras’ Shadabad tehsil), and Anil Kumar Katiyar (Aligarh’s Atrauli tehsil).
The Chief Minister has directed these officers to submit their explanations to the government within two days. Failure to provide a satisfactory response may result in stringent action, sources familiar with the matter said.
State Relief Commissioner GS Naveen stated that, following the CM’s directives, compensation for disaster-related deaths is being provided within 24 hours across the state after completing the surveys.
Strict action is being taken against officials found negligent in their duties, according to sources.
