On Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that in today’s world, true freedom from anarchy can only be attained through the integration of education and spirituality.

He advocated for the revival of traditional Arya Samaj practices like 'yajna' and ‘havan’ in gurukuls, explaining that these rituals helped maintain a spiritual and disciplined environment in ancient times, which led to better academic outcomes.

The Chief Minister inaugurated a new auditorium, five classrooms, and an administrative building at Mewalal Gupta Gurukul Vidyalaya. He commended the efforts of the Gorakhpur Gurukul Society for reviving the institution, noting that the construction was completed on schedule by the Gorakhpur Development Authority with a CSR (corporate social responsibility) fund of Rs 1 crore 5 lakh.

Yogi Adityanath also stressed the importance of introducing skill development and entrepreneurship training alongside education in gurukuls to ensure that every child has access to learning. He emphasized making each child self-reliant, noting that these educational initiatives will contribute to India’s development as a prosperous nation.

During his visit to Gorakhpur Gurukul Vidyalaya, the Chief Minister highlighted the school’s rich history, mentioning its founding in 1935. He revealed that the British government had closed the school for five years due to its involvement in spiritual and political activities.

Despite this setback, the school reopened and now functions as a higher secondary institution. However, a decline in resources over time led to dwindling student numbers, but the recent construction and new resources are helping to revive the school.

Yogi reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to providing quality education for all children and improving healthcare access for all citizens. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s National Education Policy (NEP), he emphasized that it is designed for the holistic development of students and is aligned with modern needs.

He also mentioned that under the Ayushman Card Scheme, 10 crore people across the state are receiving free healthcare services.

Earlier, the Chief Minister toured the Gurukul Vidyalaya, observing classroom activities and interacting with students. He planted saplings on the school grounds and watched a cultural performance, where girl students performed a beautiful rendition of Ganesh Vandana to open the event.

Notable attendees included MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, Mayor Manglesh Shrivastava, Gorakhpur University Vice-Chancellor Prof Poonam Tandon, and other dignitaries, administrative officials, and educators.
